Sweet smiles

Molly has started smiling now in response to things that we say or when she sees people who are familiar to her. I know my camera is going to be extra busy now that she is showing us her sweet smile!

Two months...too fast!

Little Miss will already be two months old next week! Molly can now smile at us, and as you'll see from the video below she makes the most precious sounds when she tries to talk. (Don't forget that Facebook users have to go to our blog at boykinfamilynews.blogspot.com in order to see the video.) She sleeps around six hours straight every night, eats, and then goes back to bed for another few hours. She looks more and more like Bo every day. She's growing right along and barely fits in her Newborn/0-3 months clothes anymore. She's such a blessing!

Swimming, "Shooting Ladders" and other Shenanigans

Summer is flying by, and here's what Bo has been up to:

Getting a haircut from daddy...(don't worry...he didn't keep the mohawk)

Playing with superhero toys and books...

Helping out with the dishes...

Swimming every day...

If you were wondering about the title of this post, "shooting ladders" is what he calls the board game "Chutes and Ladders." We've been playing it just about every day. He's still learning the rules of the game, but for now he enjoys sending his man up a ladder and/or down a slide no matter what number he spins on the spinner.

We're still waiting for this little sticky man to fall down from the ceiling. Bo threw this on the ceiling at the end of May, and we told him that if it got stuck up there, he would have to wait for it to fall down before he could play with it again. Little did we know that one month later, it's still hanging up there...

Eat, Sleep, Poop. Eat, Sleep, Poop. Eat, SSSSLLLLEEEEEEPPPP...

Thank you Molly for surprising us by sleeping nine hours straight on Monday night! Whether it was a just one night "gift" or the start of a really good sleeping habit, we don't know. We'll take whatever extra sleep we can get though!

For the most part, Molly is doing very well. At her one month check up last week, she weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and she has grown a half of an inch since she was born. She's eating really well, and she'll generally sleep 4 to 5 hours at a time at night before waking up to eat again. She loves bath time, bright rooms (like the kitchen and bathroom), her big brother, and watching fans. She is starting to get more alert and social, and we're just waiting for the day when she smiles back at us. We've noticed that she has a tendency to only raise her middle finger sometimes when she eats and stretches so apparently she's already developing a bit of an attitude. :) She has fussy times when she's over-tired, but we've learned that a car ride or a bath can usually help to calm her down or help her to fall asleep. She HATES when her diaper is wet or dirty so we're splurging on higher quality diapers to keep her comfortable. She's not a huge fan of being in her car seat unless it is moving. Other than that, Molly is pretty easy-going. She is the kind of baby that would make me consider having another child simply because she is doing so well. Don't get your hopes up though Papa Paul and Nana. Our motto is still "two and we're through," and I doubt that will change anytime soon. We'll just continue to count our blessings and appreciate the two little miracles that we already have.
These are some pictures and videos of Molly at 4 and 5 weeks old.
Snoring...

Her signature look when she's being burped and also very sleepy:
I finally took some pictures of her when she was awake! :)

Progress!

In a month, Bo has become better and much more comfortable doing the skills that he is asked to do at his swim lessons. If you remember from last summer, Bo was doing cannonballs into the pool without hesitation but with his life jacket on. We're not sure why he is more fearful of the water this summer, but his lessons and watching videos of himself jumping in the pool last summer are two things that have helped him to overcome that fear. The only thing that he now doesn't want to do at his lessons is to go down the water slide at the pool. (It used to be his favorite thing...go figure.)

YAWN! and other pictures of a sleepy, sleepy baby

Snuggling with Nana

If she didn't have hearts on her shirt, one would think this was a picture of Bo as a baby.

Once you have a baby, you learn to NEVER put socks on their feet because everyone wants to look at their tiny toes.

I'm noticing that all of the pictures that I have taken are of Molly sleeping. I'll work on getting more of her awake so you can see her beautiful eyes! :)
